How this site works — and how it makes money.
We think you should know exactly how this site operates before you trust it with your retirement questions.
The short version
This site is free to use. Most of the content requires no account, no email address, and no payment. We publish plain-English guides on retirement topics because we think better information leads to better decisions.
We will eventually make money through affiliate links and, later, through vetted advisor listings. We're not making money right now — we're building the educational foundation first. When monetization starts, every arrangement will be disclosed clearly, on the page where it appears.
What this site is
An educational resource. Every article covers how a retirement topic works in plain English. The goal is to help you understand your options so you can make more informed decisions — not to make the decision for you.
We cover Social Security, Medicare, taxes in retirement, 401(k) rollovers, Roth conversions, life insurance, estate planning basics, and lifestyle topics like housing and caregiving. All of it is free.
What this site is not
- Not a financial advisor. Nothing on this site is individualized financial, investment, tax, legal, Medicare, or insurance advice. We explain how things work in general; a qualified professional helps you apply that to your specific situation.
- Not a product seller. We don't sell insurance, annuities, mutual funds, or financial products. When we link to products as affiliate links, that's disclosed.
- Not a lead generator. We don't collect your information to sell it to advisors or insurance agents. If you give us your email to receive the checklist, that's the only thing we use it for — plus occasional educational updates you can unsubscribe from at any time.
How the site makes money
Affiliate links (future — launching after 90 days of content)
Some links on this site may be affiliate links, meaning we earn a small commission if you make a purchase through them — at no additional cost to you. Every affiliate link will be labeled with an Affiliate Link badge so you always know before you click.
We will only include affiliate links for products we believe are genuinely useful for people navigating retirement: books, budgeting tools, document organizers, tax software, legal document platforms, and similar practical resources. We won't include affiliate links for financial products like annuities or insurance, where the compensation structures create conflicts of interest.
Advisor and agent listings (future — V3)
We plan to eventually offer a directory where vetted local financial advisors and Medicare agents can be listed as professional resources. Professionals who are listed will pay a listing fee. Every listing will be clearly labeled as a paid placement, and we'll publish the vetting standards we use before we list anyone.
This model is under attorney review before we launch it — referral arrangements in financial services are regulated, and we want to get it right.
Webinar sponsorships (future)
Our free educational webinars may eventually have sponsors. Any sponsorship will be disclosed to attendees at the start of the webinar, and sponsors have no influence over the educational content.
How we label external links
Every external link on this site is labeled so you know what you're clicking before you click it.

Our editorial process
Articles are drafted with the help of AI tools, then reviewed by a human for accuracy — especially for Social Security rules, Medicare enrollment periods, and tax figures that change annually. Content touching regulated topics is reviewed for compliance before publishing.
Each article includes a "Last reviewed" date. We review all articles at least once per year and update immediately when rules change (Social Security COLA, Medicare premium updates, IRS contribution limits, etc.).
